Q. Why can’t I just use a household type freezer on my boat, they work great in my house?

A. Frigibars are designed to operate outside, uncovered, in a tropical environment while maintaining a solid zero degrees Fahrenheit. Household freezers are designed to operate indoors where the temperature is comfortable. Household freezers will rust in saltwater conditions. Frigibars are built on hand layed up molds, from all fiberglass that will never rust. We use more insulation than household freezers and our refrigeration systems have at least 30% greater cooling capacity. All the box hardware is either stainless steel, anodized aluminum, chromed brass or marinized. They are simply the best marine freezers that money can buy.

Q. Can I get a Frigibar in any voltage?

A. Frigibars can be supplied to operate on just about any conventional voltage:110V/60Hz, 220V/60Hz, 230V/50Hz, AC. Some of our freezers are available for 12V, 24V or 32V DC.

Q. What if I want to use my freezer as a refrigerator some of the time. Can I do that?

A. Frigibars offer great flexibility when ordered with our ‘Dual Control’ option. By using a special motor and separate thermostat control you can operate your Frigibar as a freezer or refrigerator.There will be times when you are going out for the day or weekend and would like the convenience of not having to go into the galley to get a sandwich or a cold drink. This option will be particularly helpful on flybridge installations. You won’t have to go up and down the ladder every time you want a refreshment.

Q. What if I anchor off somewhere and don’t want to run my generator just to keep the freezer cold?

A. Frigibar has developed the "Frigi-Bank" holdover plate system, a system of stainless steel tanks, filled with a chemical solution that attaches to the inside walls of the freezer. This feature allows you to run your generator 1-1 1û2 hours, twice a day to maintain freezing temperatures. However in some recorded conditions, Frigibars have been known to keep their contents frozen for as long as 32 hours, unpowered. Conditions may vary. When the tanks are not needed they can be removed and stored.

Q. Do you have a size to fit my available space?

A. We manufacture 10 sizes in 3 categories to fit almost any space: 4 horizontal top opening, 4 vertical top opening and 2 front loading freezers.. If none of these will fit your available space we can custom build one that will.

Q. Are there any other options I may need?

A. Our options are designed to make owning a Frigibar that much more enjoyable. We can supply a 3 inch thick Snap-On marine cushion that is mildew resistant and is designed not to retain water. All models come with indicating neon lamps. Amber cycles on and off with the freezer to show when it is running. The red neon lamp is indicates that an approaching defrost condition. Our defrost warning alarm works in concert with the red neon lamp to give an audible indications, particularly helpful in marinas when no one may be on the boat. Our three piece chrome on brass installation fasteners are the perfect way to fasten your freezer to the deck. The quick release design is convenient if the freezer has to be moved.

Q. What is the warranty that comes with the freezer and where can I get service if I need it fixed?

A. All Frigibars come with a five year warranty on the box and one year warranty on the refrigeration system. Worldwide service is available but any qualified refrigeration technician can service your Frigibar.

Q. Does Frigibar make other products besides freezers?

A. Yes. We also make deluxe storage boxes to match our freezers, teak and fiberglass insulated fish boxes, insulated ice chests (3 times the insulation used in picnic variety coolers) and two lines of dunnage boxes. 42 cataloged products are available from inventory, plus a line of AC and DC conversion kits for existing insulated boxes.
